Hello readers, a bit about myself, I am Shanidhya Bhalotia, currently doing my PGP from Mesa School of Business that is building the next startup leaders. Prior to that, I had 3.5 years of experience blended in both corporates like EY & Mercer and startups as a founder’s office at FinAGG.
Behind the Scenes:
My journey with Auxano Capital started with a simple Cold Email sent to Ashish, Partner, through LinkedIn. I was pleasantly surprised by how he responded to and encouraged cold emailing candidates. The recruitment process consisted of rounds of interviews, including one with Karan Gupta and an assignment round evaluating a company’s case study.
When I received the email from Auxano Capital with the subject line “Welcome to Auxano,” I couldn’t contain my excitement. It felt like all my hard work and determination had finally paid off.
My Days with Auxano:
From day one of my internship, Auxano Capital immersed me in the fast-paced world of venture capital. I underwent a quick yet comprehensive onboarding process, and familiarized myself with the current portfolio. Before I knew it, the days turned into weeks, and my journey as an intern was in full swing.
My typical days at Auxano Capital were filled with a range of responsibilities, including analyzing the existing portfolio companies, evaluating investment decks from various perspectives, and providing support to the team across research, marketing, collateral preparation, and communications. Collaborating closely with Karan and Kanuj, I delved into understanding their portfolio companies and created concise one-pager documents that captured their essence. This work scope required a blend of primary and secondary research, enhancing my skill set and sharpening my analytical abilities.
To further challenge myself, I was tasked with condensing the one-pagers into brief 100-word summaries. This helped me not only build my attention to detail but also taught me the art of conveying essential information concisely.
Moreover, I had the opportunity of building investment thesis on industries like Electric Vehicles and Drones.
Under the guidance of the team, I explored industry trends and developed sound investment rationales.
Additionally, I seized the opportunity to evaluate an EV OEM Company, comprehensively analyzing its market position, business model, product innovation, team dynamics, and financial viability from a venture capitalist’s perspective. Presenting my analysis before the Investment Committee not only enriched my knowledge but also taught me the importance of logical reasoning and articulation.
Further, I even had the chance of presenting my work with Brijesh, Partner at Auxano Capital.
What sets Auxano Capital apart is its supportive team and inclusive culture.
In the latter stages of my internship, I had the opportunity to contribute to the marketing activities of Auxano Capital’s social media platforms.
In summary, my internship with Auxano Capital has been transformative. In a short span of time, I gained exposure to the multifaceted work involved in venture capital.
To future interns, I offer the following takeaways and tips:
- Embrace the initial overwhelm with curiosity and humility.
- Develop the ability to ask insightful questions.
- Explore new technologies and identify problems that demand innovative solutions.
I hope this gives you an insight into my amazing experience as an intern at Auxano Capital. If you are looking for an internship that challenges you and helps you grow, Auxano Capital is definitely the place to be!
