The Venture Capital (VC) space in India has evolved over the past decade. There’s a growing acceptance of this asset class-as an investment choice. This bodes well for founders & promoters, who need capital to build their vision. Communication is an art & science. Some are born with it, some acquire it, but then this is a skill, which today is paramount. 

Communication: The Key to Building Trust

Communication – be it oral, written or through Social Media platforms, conveys what the sender wants to share with the world. 

As you want to reach to many, i.e., 1-To-Many, the form of communication & how you communicate gathers prominence. Today, you find that promoters are the ‘brands’ of their products.

 In the Indian context, the promoters of Zomato, Ola, Swiggy, to name a few, are in the forefront of being the identity of the brand. 

The early stage “promoters’, today shy away from being in the forefront as being the ‘face’ of the brand.

Why the ‘camera shyness’? 

Building confidence for the customers comes from the founder/promoter. No other brand ambassador can act as the ‘promoter’ himself.

The Power of Personal Branding

Who can forget the impact of the ‘MDH’ promoter. In his early 80’s (in 1984), till the year 2000 (when he passed away), all the TV ads of MDH (ready-to-use ground spices), had his presence.

 Dharampal Gulati (the promoter) realized the importance of the personal brand in 1984, when well into his 80’s.

 So why the shyness in 2024, of young firebrand promoters (except for a few).

Today, through platforms such as

  • Twitter (wanting to reach out to many & wanting to have an immediate impact),
  • Instagram (here you can showcase the product & service in a seamless manner),
  • YouTube shorts (where again you can showcase the product).
  • LinkedIn, which from being a ‘connecting’ platform, has today evolved into a ‘knowledge & information sharing arena. 

Each of the above platforms need a specific approach. And one needs to either invest some time in knowing this or engage a ‘firm’ or hire a resource. 

But personal branding-it has to be. 

Takeaway: Promoter and Brand

At Auxano, also, we believe, personal branding is important. The biggest & the largest ambassador is ‘you’ the promoter himself/herself.

 If you are camera-shy, then make an attempt to get out of it.

 Practice in front of a mirror, do whatever you want to, but be a communicator-that too a confident one. 

Today, when reach is ever-present; it’s upon you, to take the best advantage of it. 

You are the brand. No second thoughts here.
